I studied at Coto in 2019 for a couple of months. To me it is the best language school in Tokyo. I’ve also attended other schools but none of them is as good as this one. As a language teacher myself, I can say that their teaching style and philosophy is very progressive and effective. They encourage you to study kanji in unconventional ways and have a focus on communication rather than on memorization unlike most language schools. Teachers are amazing and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I will definitely attend their courses again in the future!

Best Japanese Language School in Tokyo - Weekend (Saturday) and Evening Japanese Lessons I took an intensive course here to help my Japanese move from upper beginner to intermediate in preparation for the JLPT - it is one of the friendliest Japanese schools in Tokyo that I visited while selecting a school to choose. The staff and students are a warm community of people who want to help you succeed with your learning goals. The school also hosts events such as Sushi Class, Japanese Cooking Class, and cultural field trips. This is a really great Japanese school and I highly recommend anyone who is thinking about studying Japanese in Tokyo to choose this school if you can afford it. One downside is that they do not offer long term visas - but if you are living in Japan and looking for a Japanese school - this is the perfect place!

如果你的母语是中文,不推荐。 I do not recommend this place to Chinese speakers. All lessons and teaching methods are sorely designed for English speakers. Teachers are kind, facility is nice, but sadly teachers here have no idea what a Chinese speaker understands and how to approach teaching them. Not teachers' fault, they are just trained to teach English speakers. Many students here are on vacation or summer holidays, taking a course for fun. If you're looking for a serious intense Japanese learning environment, look elsewhere. One last thing, it's very expensive compares to other language schools.

As beginner in Japanese and not having much free time during my stay in Japan decided to take some language lessons. A friend recommended me Coto Academy which proved to be an excellent suggestion. I booked individual lessons and both teachers I had lessons with were excellent, I enjoyed everything, the content, structure, flexibility... beside of this, the human experience was great. I would definitely recommend this place -doesn’t matter of your age and level- to study Japanese. Thank you!

Attended the intensive course for 4 months and totally loved it! Love the classmates as all are either working adults or housewives. Content of the class is relevant to encounter daily life in Tokyo and there are plenty of outside-class events and activities to join. Regular homework and review test helped in retaining what’s been studied in class. Emphasis is on speaking japanese confidently and smoothly. Would love to come back and continue this program if my time allows. Attended the part time course and the JLPT prep course, too, just to try them out. Part time course is so-so, but the JLPT prep class is pretty good to give you exam tips and strategy. But as both classes are only 1-2 times per week, it’s more suitable for independent learner who would really put in the effort to revise at home regularly in order not to forget what has been learned previously.
