I wanted Mexican. I came here. I didn't get my hopes up. Not to worry... For Okinawa... This isn't too shabby. No it's nothing chain-like, not predictable, not ordinary. On the other hand you are looking for Mexican food... in Asia. Lower those expectations a tad and you won't be disappointed.
The Tortilla Factory is Okinawa's answer to Chipotle. You go in, place your order (burrito, taco rice bowl, soft tacos), choose the protein (chicken, beef, beans, etc.), choose the rice (Mexican or garlic basil rice), and toppings (lettuce, tomato, cilantro, guacamole, salsa, etc.). It is just that simple, and you watch as the staff assemble your meal. For about 8 dollars (a combo costs a few dollars more) you get a tasty meal. I got a chicken burrito with garlic basil rice; the flavors were great, however, the chicken was dry and over-cooked. This place is fine for a quick bite, but don't expect an award winning meal.
It's has a Japanese twist to burritos. The twist is small but is has huge flavor change.
Tortilla Factory is a place that my wife and frequent every other weekend. It is a great place to grab a bite to eat.
