Just can't stand their over the top Covid-19 policies in a city with pretty much no cases reported. From the day they removed all animal feeding, then their mindless hourly limits which ensured we all entered the place together even if the park was mostly empty overall. And now enforcing masks for adults in a nearly empty open air zoo where kids run wild anyway. Used to come nearly once a week for years, now I try as much as I can not to get there unless my kids get really loud about it.

I love animals! This place is good, but the heath condition of the animals need to improve! Enter ace fee is very low !

Great place for kids and family. You can enjoy a whole day there as there is a small amusement park annexed there. You can also enjoy and relax at the park where you can climb up a small building structure and check the view around from above. The Zoo is big and there are a lot of interesting animals to see. You can feed some of them (specific and available food). Some of them has a sad look in their eyes that breaks my heart. Overall, a good place to visit and spend the day if you're around Hitachi. I visited Kamine zoo about two months ago and had a good experience. There were lots of Animals and Birds as well. But the thing I didn’t like is some of the Animal’s condition was really bad and looks helpless..

I wish I had known about this place before. It's much bigger and better than your average prefectural zoo. Animals still look as sad as any other zoo but some thought has gone into providing them with interesting space and entertainment. I arrived to late to see the various feeding times. Will definitely go back. Highlights were the monkey enclosure and the lizard room. Capybaras were fun to play with. Highly recommended for a family trip or cute date!
