Area is picturesque. Unfortunately the main building doors were closed. It would have been nice to see the interior. There is a Japanese garden you can enjoy. There is a small tori gate on top of the hill. You can rest at the seating areas but you'll need to wipe off any spider webs first. There is a small area you can park in front of the ruins. The parking lot is shaped like a triangle.

住雲園は『越後線(旧越後鉄道)・弥彦線(旧参宮線)の創設者 久須美父子』のお宅で、平成3年に今の場所(長岡市和島)に移築された…みたいなことが入り口にあったパンフレットに書いてありました 駐車場に車を停めてお庭に入ってみると、そう広いって感じではなかったですが、庭木や花木も手入れされていたし、池があったり小さな滝があったり、何やら鳥居と祠もありました。回りは田園ですが、住雲園の中はちょっと異空間 池には錦鯉もゆったりと泳いでいました。 私の頭の中には、新潟の鉄道と言うと新幹線を通した田中角栄しか思い浮かびませんでしたが、その他にも郷土の発展や人々の為に尽力した人達が居たんだよね
雨が振り出し、ゆっくり見れず又建物の見学に印鑑が要ることを知らず残念な１日。晴れた日にゆっくり見学したい。
入場無料。穴場スポット。とても美しい庭園と日本家屋。錦鯉がチャポンと跳ねる中、庭園の散策を楽しめます。
綺麗な庭でした。
