The bookstore is very spacious. However, i found a hard time to find English book there. Almost everything in Japanese. But looking at the collections of the book, they have various genre. A little bit pricey.

Good choice for looking Japanese and English books collections. even it's little bit difficult to find it because it's located in basement of BAL building.

Nice two-floor bookstore with large sections dedicated to manga, novels, magazines, and non-fiction. Includes a sizeable English language section in the basement.

Good place for having a great cup of tea and some sweets surrounded by books. Even though there were many people in the cafe, everyone was speaking in quiet voices, so we could really feel relaxed and at ease while catching up over a cup of coffee and a slice of cake ;) The coffee came in this cool scientific-looking flask (which automatically got them bonus points as I'm a chemist myself \u200d) and did not just look cool but tasted great, especially with the cream We got the lemon cake to go with it, which apparently is the speciality of this shop as it has to do with the famous Japanese short story "lemon". Apparently this café is mentioned in that story so that was a nice little backstory :) The location is in the basement of a department store in the centre of Kyoto, so very central! In summary a slightly unusual, but very standardly comfortable place to enjoy some great-tasting afternoon food and drinks

The biggest selection of Japanese learning materials I have ever seen at any bookstore, for every possible level and situation from children’s learning to business Japanese for medical professionals. They also had a large section of English books in many genres. If you are interested in learning Japanese or simply an English speaker looking to pick up some new reading material while you are in Kyoto, don’t miss it!
