Quick ferry that comes frequently. Price varies but not expensive. Different price for just a person or if you have a bicycle or if a car. The ride is less than 5 minutes. We rented bikes then took them across the island for a few days then bikes back. Staff was very kind and efficient! Always wear a helmet!

Ride the ferry for 110 per person with a bike. You pay the toll to an employee on the boat. Boats run about every 12 minutes during the day.
This is the only way to cross over from onomichi to the other side of the river by foot traffic or bike. The cost currently is 100 yen each way, given to someone who is tendjing the boat. The ferry runs. Every 12 minutes from 6am until fairly late, past 9 p.m. Make sure that once you pay you stay in your position until all the money is collected, otherwise the person will try to collect money from you in a second time, this happened to me the first time I took the ferry over... The route one way takes only about 6 minutes or so, but if you're coming over and where to catch a train I would try to leave earlier
