A tiny shop I have been visiting for more than 25 years. It doesn't look like much, just a small U-shaped counter... but good unagi and nice tare. About the only option is missing soup which is a good accompaniment. Often a queue at lunchtime.

For charcoal grilled Unagi, this would be my preference. You always get a big helping of rice and the owner is friendly and welcoming to foreigners, he can speak a little bit of English and loves to engage with his customers. Prices are very fair, location can be a bit challenging to get to, multiple changes on different train lines to get to Aomono-Yokocho station from Shinagawa station. I recommend you plan your visit easy, best for brunch and get to this restaurant early, once they sell out, they close shop and can be disappointing especially when you travel all the way there to enjoy awesome Unagi.
It's a few minutes walk from the aomono yokocho station exit. A compact 12-seater place that serves thick slabs of perfectly grilled melt in your mouth unagi. I had them w rice for Y2100. No English menu but very friendly chef and staff. Just say \unagi w rice\. A very satisfying meal!
Taste of food was good, place is rather small, but then this is in Tokyo.
Very authentic Unagi! Yummy!
