Oh my God. This place has the best Tempura ever. They still keep the tradition of using sesame oil to deep fried tempura. I ordered from the menu instead of set. Because most of us would think of tempura is prawn, fish and some veg. But let me tell you, Japanese can turn any food into tempura. Just try 1) tempura oyster with a capsicum base 2) tempura larch (tiny little fish) 3) tempura large clam with sitaki mushroom 4) tempura mushroom stuffed with prawn Must try using different type of salts with the tempura. Wasabi salty sea salt and lastly my personal favour plum salt.

It's alright, price reflects the tourist area. For a 100yr old chain store i expected something more. Anyway u can try Seikou tempura a 1michelin star for even cheaper and definitely deserving of it.

Food was awesome. Ordered the Hana and Matsui set. Little bit pricey but worth it.

A good dining experience in the heart of Shinjuku that offers high quality tempura dishes in a Japanese setting. Counter seating is available first floor and chairs/ tables on the second floor (both western style and tatami mat). On entering I was dealt with quickly. Service was excellent and the food is cooked at the counter and brought to you. The wait staff were friendly and accommodating, and although no English was spoken they offered me an English menu. I had the 7 piece \Hana\ set, which included about 7 pieces of tempura, miso soup, rice (refills of soup and rice available). This was a bit on the pricey side at 2,650 yen but \tendon sets\ were also available. At just under 2000 yen with miso soup (refills ok) and a small plate of vegetables this was the most reasonably-priced set. My party found it filling! (It is worth pointing out that you will find cheaper tempura, but these prices are quite normal at the better tempura restaurants in Shinjuku.) Each dish was served immediately after it was cooked and tasted good -light and not too oily. Clientele were a mix of locals and tourists, and both looked to be enjoying the food. Credit cards are accepted. If you prefer not to have a \set\ then tempura can also be ordered individually too. Alcoholic and soft drinks are available.

Saw a long queue in the aftnn and decided to have it for dinner. Two storey floor, saw jap on the second floor too, seems legit. Freshly fried tempura and side dishes placed on lovely printed paper. Even the most basic set meal is filling and with good variety. More complex stuff on the menu looks delicious only if you can navigate the language.
