What a hidden gem! Just waking along the river and stumbled across this cozy little fabric dyeing museum. The staff came out and spoke to us in Japanese, we weren't planning on making a stop but asked if we could take a quick look inside. She proceeded to show us the first room for a quick look and we were so intrigued we let her take us around the entire place. I was lucky to have a fluent Japanese speaker with me to translate a bit, as this was a very interesting and authentic place. They are still actively dying fabrics with traditional techniques and you can get very up close to see everything used at each stage of the process. The staff showed real omotenashi as well, pulling us in from the pavement to show us around since it was clearly a quiet day for her. I'm sure it will be packed on the weekend in cherry blossom season!

電話を入れてから行くべし、です。 事前に電話で尋ねてはいたのですが、具体的に日を指定して聞いておけば良かった。行ってみると全員で出払うので休み、とのこと。事業者ですから時に展示会やら何やらあるに決まっています。うかつでした。事前に電話を入れたほうが良い、いやそうすべき！と思います。お電話で伺ったときも非常にご親切な応対をいただいたこともあり、かなり楽しみにしてしまっていたので、反作用でガックリきてしまいました（私の独り相撲ですが）。残念無念。眼前の神田川を眺めつつ、いつの日かまた機あれと願います。
江戸時代から脈々と続く江戸小紋柄のデザインと染をしている会社です。 南を流れる神田川で糊を落としています。 ここから落合まで昔は染め物業者がたくさんいました。
隣に併設されてる八雲庵のお二階の写真です。 小さなコンサートが開かれていてそれに参加しました。
染色か豊富で自分好みの色探しができました。また変わった色探しが楽しめます。
いつでも見学できるというので行ってきました。 神田川沿いの工房は戦火からも逃れたという趣のある建物で、入った瞬間から時代を超えた感じです。そして気さくな職人さんから楽しく丁寧に解説していただいたので、とても良い時間を過ごさせていただきました。 建物の奥にある染料の調合室などは、まさに職人さんの聖域という感じで、本当に貴重なものを見た気持ちです。 一般の人や小学生の子供たちのために染め物教室を開くこともあるそうで、機会があれば参加したいと思います。
