Nice staff members brought my group an English language menu as soon as one of us spoke in English. Service was very prompt and we had an enjoyable meal. I ordered a set that came with miso soup and rice in addition to my tempura. The shop is small, but there was plenty of seating, and didn't feel cramped.

One of my favorite chains in Japan. Their vegetable tendon is the best!!! It is literally comfort food for me and a guilty pleasure of sorts. I used to live in Yokohama where it wasn’t as convenient for me so I hardly went (I try not to make an effort to eat fried foods haha) but when I lived in Tokyo for a month, this was like a 10 minute walk. Needless to say, probably came here 5 times in the month.

Japanese fast food. Love Tendon Tenya, always stop when I'm in Japan. Tempura and soba, can't get any better than this.

You'll find the pleasantries of Tendon Tenya tucked beneath the delightful city scape of JR Ryogoku station, a hop and a step away from the Edo - Tokyo museum. It makes sense to create a franchise of restaurants from a concept of fried food such as tempura. It's quick and easy and goes pretty well with beer, which is also available as the ubiquitous and invariably tasty Kirin. Prices are reasonable which I'm guessing comes with well supplied fast food chains purchasing. I sincerely hope the young girl I offered a toy koala to was not too alarmed by the incomprehensible concerns I uttered to her regarding how lonely she looked. I don't know about you but my 15 something years as a Dad tell me such a young person eating dinner by herself is a sure sign of loneliness and not the way things ought to be. Probably I was mistaken and if she is reading this by some miracle I hope she isn't offended and, more importantly isn't lonely ( because someone out there (me) cares.) Our daughter thought my actions were quite kind, so there's that. Lightning quick service. Extra points for our waiter who did his absolute best and that was nice. Hard to stuff up deep fried food but credit to the chef nonetheless. Overall an enjoyable if slightly saddening experience. Ultra good ultrafast WiFi. Surprisingly not sticky for a fast food joint.

Value for money and taste good as well. Tendon has a savoury sauce on top of rice and the Udon soup uses a yuzu citrus base. Surprising delicious without being overwhelming. The oil used is a low absorbtion oil as well, which leads to lower oil concentraion in the tempura.
