I liked it and can definitely recommend this YH. For those who have worked at a Japanese school, you will feel a bit like drawn into one. Speaker announced when meals are ready, music during the meal and the toilet had that smell. Saying that, the whole place is clean. I was also lucky tohave the whole dorm for myself. The location is a bit outside, thus 1 start deduction.

Quiet and peaceful little youth hostel. It looks like it's been renovated recently (or it's just very well kept). Very nice bathroom. The manager doesn't speak much English, but he is very friendly and will give you lots of useful information. Compared to other YHs in Hokkaido and considering its modest location, I found it rather pricey (3400/4000), especially if you should end up sharing a small dorm with 3 others (I had it to myself).
食事、風呂、接客態度申し分ありません。 部屋も綺麗に清掃されていて居心地良い宿泊施設です。 化石などが沢山展示してあり、マニアの人なら大喜びすると思います。 僕が宿泊した日は、その道では名のある大学の先生も泊っておられて、興味深いお話しを聴くことも出来ました。 羽幌町は天売島にウトウやオロロン鳥を観に渡るための玄関口にもなっており、その前泊地としても便利で、羽幌遊歩ユースホステルに泊ってから行くのもいいかもしれません。 宿のご主人も知識豊富ですので、食事の後に旅の情報を仕入れたり、他の宿泊客とのコミュニケーションを楽しむことも良い思い出になると思います。 (写真は近くのはぼろサンセットビーチです。）
ユースホテルなのでアメニティはありません。食事は美味しく部屋は綺麗でした。
