For two days I felt like my life was some sort of exciting and adventurous Hollywood movie. It was a 'dream drive', indeed ;) Even though I love camping but sleeping in tents is not for me. But dream drive has made camping luxurious and comfortable. With the provision of chargers, I was able to use my computer and do some work as well. And coffee/ tea could be made anytime I'd want. There was this little fridge to keep my beers chilled. During the COVID times I think it is a great way to travel within Japan. I might be going camping for much longer than two days on my next trip. Last but not the least, the hospitality – Tyson was just a Line message away.

Huge thanks to all the team of Dreamdrive We had an amazing trip to gunma thanks to you. Supportive and flexible at any time throughout the trip with any misunderstanding or problem. Will definitely rent again!
Had a blast taking the tama for a short 4 day trip. Epic weekend hitting the roads of Japan in a Dreamdrive camper van. Wife and I traveled all through the southern Tohoku region visiting spots in Fukushima, Yamagata and Miyagi prefecture. Grateful for the stunning fall foliage views along the way, well behaved Japanese drivers on the toll roads, exquisite local cuisines, and friendly people we’ve met. Definitely a fan of campervan life now! Thank you to dream drive team for the amazing experience. Very flexible and easy to deal with.
Rented the Ronin camper van for 11 days in April, and it was amazing! The van was very smartly designed and cozy, and the Dream Drive team is super cool and helpful. They were quick to smooth out any problems and gave useful tips. Best way to explore Japan, especially outside the bigger cities! Definitely not my last time.
The cool thing about Japan is you can pretty much camp anywhere without a permit as long as you're not in the way of anyone else, so the idea of being able to drive around these scenic places and then make camp wherever I felt like was very attractive to me. The people who run Dream Drive were super customer service friendly and seemed eager to provide the best experience for me and my wife. Being my height in Japan sometimes makes me wary when I travel because the bedding is often too short, but I was able to sleep in this van of all places very comfortably. The mattress extended so my feet were not hanging off of the edge, I had a place to charge my phone, and the team at DD included additional camping gear that was super helpful on my trip. Check them out. Such an easy and inexpensive way to explore Japan!
What an experience of freedom and comfort! My wife and I rented the Kamo for 4 days and we enjoyed every moment of the trip. The driving experience was very smooth: in 4 days we drove over 1000km between Tokyo, Nagano and Niigata, spent time by the Sea of Japan and in the forests of Northern Alps. It rained all the time, but it was much easier to endure from the dryness of the car. We mostly stayed in Auto-Camp (with friends using a tent) but next time we will definitely be more adventurous and stay in wilder and even more remote nature spots. The van is equipped with most of the necessary items for cooking, eating and camping. The sleeping compartment is super comfortable, no need to prepare anything for the night just park and rest Dream Drive team, especially Hannah and Hajime, was delightful and very helpful during the pickup and even during the trip with some exchanges of messages. Big thanks to them for their great service We wish we had met you for the drop-off on Sunday (self checkout back in Tokyo). We would have taken the Kamo one more time for a getaway in August, but popular as it is, it was ready fully booked. We will definitely drive it again for a new adventure!
Had an amazing weekend road trip with husband and baby in one of the Dream Drive vans. Absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves an adventure. It's a low cost and convenient way to be out and about and surrounded by nature. We headed down to Izu and drove from the west coast to the south coast and up to the east coast. The van came with a bed, chairs, table, gas stove, lamp, cups, mosquito net and more. It was our first time staying in a van and we had so much fun we're already planning our next trip!
My husband and I took our Dream Drive to Lake Saiko with some friends on a three day camping trip and I have nothing but good things to say about our experience! To be honest, I am NOT a good camper. The only reason my husband convinced me to take the trip in the first place was because I was told it was more like "glamping" and it would afford us the freedom to take our time getting to the campsite. The van we took was comfortable, spacious enough for all of our gear including all the stuff that two of our friends had us haul to the site for them. The mattress was a real, legit mattress with the kind of comforter you'd be provided with at a hotel. The pillows were also comfortable and I got why Dream Drive kept saying it was a "hotel on wheels." The only thing I wished for on our trip was a way to keep our shoes outside the van because I hated to track-in the dirt (it was rainy when we went). But I mentioned it to the owner when we returned the van and he said he was already working on getting a solution for that. We were provided with a gas burner (which we used to make coffee and breakfast each day), a gallon container for water (that came in super handy), a tarp, two folding chairs, and electric lantern. I'd definitely rent one of their rides again. Loved being able to explore Japan at my own pace, in comfort. Such a cool idea for a business! Wish I would have thought of it!
