Northernmost Shigosen Tower 最北子午線塔 Along the coast of route 665 in Amino is a monumental structure called Saihoku Shigosen Tower which indicates the northernmost point of the meridian. This tower is a symbol of the point where the location was designated as the northernmost point on the line of the standard meridian in Japan. There is a digitalized display which shows standard time of Japan and that of the rest of the world. Along this road you can reach a mountainous pass of Shichiryu ( 7 dragon ) Toge to the west. Not much information about this place. There was no one when we were there.
This place has an amazing view of the ocean. It is very nice and secluded. Easy to get to and a quick pitstop.
｢最果て｣感をソコソコ楽しめてイイですね。｢16時｣の表示が、液晶の不具合で｢15時｣と表示されるのは、直した方がイイですね。
日本中央標準時子午線最北端の塔、東経135度・北緯35度41分。道路に面した駐車場はなく、12台分のスペースに止める。緩い土の階段を少し登ると、日時計を模した立派な金属製の塔があります。絶景！
成程、東経１３５度00 かと思いきやグーグルアースで確認すると、実際の子午線は西側に50メートル？位ずれとった。塔の設置場所には不適当だったんだろう。まぁ、最北子午線の塔はチョットだけ横にしたという事。
こういう所が好きなんです。何もない所です。
眺めもよくて綺麗な海が見られます。
