This is a typical minshuku (home stay guesthouse) which is evidently been running since a while and kind of maintains a feeling of the old times...this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it depends on what one is looking for. For me it was perfect as it was the best rate I could find. Also it has a traditional feeling, rolls are equipped with one bed and tatami and are minimal. Curtains don’t repair much from light in the morning and train station is right below so if you are a light sleeper this is probably not the best option. Staff is welcoming but they do not speak much English and accept only cash, no credit cards. There are quite a few steep stairs to take before reaching up to the entrance so if you have big luggage be prepared! I didn’t use the onsen but it is open until 22:00 and check-in is from 15:00 while checkout at 10:00.

When I took a shower in the female hot spring in the morning, a male staff, an old Japanese man, came in and said he wanted to check the temperature in the hot spring. I was naked at that time and was frightened. I found it unacceptable and complained it to the hotel.

It’s location is pretty close to the station, so highly recommended if you have time before you take the train back to Shinjuku. As a note, it is not wheelchair accessible as the entrance is up a flight of stairs.

An old onsen. There's only one outdoor bath for each gender. It's not too hot, but if you are very sensitive, you should take it into consideration. Do not expect anything special. The place is not too busy compared to larger/more luxurious onsen, so there's a chance that you will be enjoying it alone.

Cheap and convenient onsen near the Hakone Yumuto station.

Mild tempered old lady runs this shabby run down hotel. Really cheap and convenient for people who don't plan to spend a lot of money.
