The place was quiet when we went in, given it opened at 11:30am and we wanted a good beer with our brunch. The beers come in a small, medium and boot size. I think we were having Sapporo Black, which is very easy to swallow. The place is clean and tidy, the ambiance was perfect, and it is friendly to the young, the old and those with families.

Incredible food to be had here.. not the cheapest, however the quality of the food deserves the price. Easily the best steak I have ever eaten.

Located at the famous shopping street of sapporo, eaaily spot from the outside(look for the man statue who is drinking a beer). Food are tasty.

Good place for lunch after long walk & shopping in Tanukikoji street. This Lion Restaurant is a classic since 1914 with good food.

Situated just off one the main streets in Sapporo in one of those long multi block strip shopping arcades that you'll find in many Japanese cities, Beer Hall Lion is a "western style" restaurant and bar that packs in as many locals as it does the tourists. A selection of Japanese steak, stew and curry dishes done with a more western feel plus other assorted fare can be had at a fairly reasonable price. All can of course be washed down with the city's most iconic beer (Sapporo... duh!) or a high-ball whiskey or bourbon from the bar. Established in 1914 and with a "Cheers" like ambience, this place has an extensive history and obviously a decent following to survive for so long. If you're looking for a break from the usual karage, izakaya, yakiniku and sushi joints and don't want full blown western food either, this maybe the place you are looking for. We were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon it.

This shop is located in Tanukikouji street,a beer specialty shop. I heard from a friend that the beer hall has been in open for over 100 yearsl. Being a specialty shop, beer was very tasty. And dishes are tasty too.
