Overall it was a satisfactory experience. When I submitted my visa application, embassy staff told me I will get my visa approval in 2-3 weeks. I received my visa after 13 working days (3 weeks). Consulate entrance staff very nice and can speak/understand English very well. However at 3rd floor where we submit visa application staff only speak Korean or Japanese. However if you bring complete documents you don’t have to speak much and very basic Japanese would serve the purpose.

The hospitality is terrible, people should know how to work without screaming at people because that’s no professional. These people are suppose to show the first impression of the Country and the impression is not good.

I’m writing this review to inform the public about the most unprofessional visa consulate that I have had the misfortune to come across- South Korean Visa Consulate in Tokyo, Japan. As a frequent traveler with a weak passport, I’m well accustomed to hardships that are usually associated with dealing in visa consulates. However, SK visa consulate in Tokyo takes this to another level. I applied to the visa consulate first time with all the required documents (some were in English). Then the visa officer skimmed through the documents and did not take in any of the important documents such as return flight booking, accommodation booking, bank statements etc. After a couple of days, I was recalled to the consulate only to find out that my visa application has been rejected! But they did not offer any reason why the application was rejected despite I pressed on this issue. How are the travelers suppose to proceed further? I decided to try again. This time I went even further with documents as I contacted a South Korean friend to obtain an invitation letter. On the second attempt, a different visa officer accepted most of my documents and asked me to come back in 2 days. After the waiting period, I was informed that I have been granted the visa but my name is misspelled in the visa sticker! The visa officers would not offer to communicate in English in the first two attempts but finally started to speak English. Finally, they took back my passport and came back after a few hours saying that it’s rejected as I can’t be allowed to apply again until further 3 months waiting period! It was a massive waste of time. Please take note of this criminally unprofessional service. Think twice before applying your visa to South Korea!!
