I’ve been to several Japanese language schools in and around Tokyo and Coto is definitely the best for my focus; speaking and reading. I’m very satisfied and would recommend the school to anyone. Good! - friendly teachers in varied age groups - extremely flexible to take classes online or in person and switch on the fly - good curriculum with focus on speaking and reading - well maintained facilities Not so good! - a bit pricey, though for me personally worth it. I’ve been to free classes before and the difference shows. - a few male teachers would be nice to switch things around, but that’s not a big deal since the team is top notch *Pro tip: since the Yokohama campus is new (and I guess also due to corona) the classes are very small at the moment (2-4 people). That’s not usual so it’s a great chance right now to get very personal tuition. Highly recommended!

I just completed the Intermediate 4 Intensive course at Coto. It’s been a great month and I’m happy to say that I notice a difference in how much I can read in my daily life and the grammer that I am using in conversation. I really liked the way the course was structured, with kanji, grammer and conversation practice. We had three different teachers during the course and all of them have been fantastic. The staff at Coto has been very welcoming and it’s a great space to work in. It’s nice that you can stick around and do some homework after class in the common areas. I’m looking forward to taking the part-time courses from August onwards.

I am just about to complete my first class with Coto next week and even though I was not really sure if I made the right decision visiting this school due to my lack of research / price comparison of other available options, I am now convinced that it was a great choice. The rooms and atmosphere are very relaxed and make it easy to focus on studying. The staff and the teachers are extremely kind and even if you arrive early, they will gladly practice Japanese with you or test you on already learned topics. Sometimes there are Japanese university students who visit Coto for free practice lessons that you should definitely join, if you have a chance.

The staff and teachers are super nice, friendly, and helpful. I really enjoyed attending classes at the Yokohama location. The textbooks given are easy to understand and help you progress. Teachers remember little details and help you learn vocabulary applicable to your life. The Yokohama lobby has awesome snacks and drinks as a bonus! I loved the graded Japanese books available for free to borrow and practice. My only complaint is the digital version of the class. I switched to taking the class digitally and there was definitely a big drop in appeal. It’s difficult to hear the teacher and the class isn’t really made to be digital right now. Hopefully with a bit of time and experience they can improve their digital classes. If you want to attend a physical class I HIGHLY recommend this school \u003c3 would be five stars except for the digital lessons

I've been following the advanced beginner course for a bit over 2 months and I've really been enjoying it. Small classes of friendly and open people with similar level of Japanese, great teacher who explains everything clearly and answers all questions, and a lot of practice during the lessons. I'm moving to another course with 2 lessons a week instead of one and am really looking forward to it. On top of that, super friendly and helpful staff and convenient location near Yokohama Station. Facilities are new, and there is free coffee Prices are very decent, definitely worth paying considering the quality. Highly recommended.

I started some weeks ago with part-time course. The teachers and staff of Coto Japanese Academy in Yokohama are very friendly and very helpful in case of questions. They are very patient in case of beginners with different language skill ability. They also try to bring in real life situations to the course. I can fully recommend the Coto Japanese Academy in Yokohama.

As an absolute beginner to the Japanese language, I have enjoyed my experience with Coto thus far. I have taken foreign language courses in the past (though not for Japanese) and this is the first time I have actually enjoyed them. Pros: -Friendly Teachers -Accessible curriculum -Great for beginners -High quality and very professional Cons: -A bit pricey, but expected for the level of service

I take lessons here twice a week, and since then I’ve felt like my life in Japan has improved so much! I tried to self study before, but I found with the classes I’ve gained a lot more knowledge. Apart from that, this school as such a friendly atmosphere, and the staff are wonderful. Really recommend this school.
