If you are looking to experience life on a small Tohoku farm, then look no further than Kayonosato. This place is the real deal. The Chida family are some of the kindest and most down-to-earth folks I've ever met, and just about everything served on their table they grow themselves. ... corn, squash, beans, eggs. The food is heavenly and the Chidas are considerate and attentive hosts. When I departed after breakfast the next day I was given an onigiri for lunch and handed a massive plastic bag of freshly-boiled corn-on-the cob as well... With respect to the inn itself... it's basically just their house. The bath is the same bath they use, the bedroom is just a big ten tatami spare room on the first floor. They appear to be set up to comfortably accommodate three or four adults, and probably as many kids. But they may have more room that I didn't see. Overall, my stay here was one of the most memorable and enjoyable of anywhere I've ever stayed in Japan. I will definitely be staying here again. Considering the quality of the food, the nightly rate was an absurdly low 6000 yen w/two meals. Lovely place, you won't go wrong here...
