Relatively small museum, but well curated. They focus on local artists and exhibitions centered around history. 20 mins on foot from Chofu station and there is a nice park right next to it.
For a relatively small institution, this museum puts on quality exhibits, with a focus on Edo-period painting, modern art and design, and local artists. The building itself is spacious and airy while blending in to the park, but the exhibition halls are just the right size -- not too extensive that you get worn out. One plus is the location ensures there are seldom crowds, meaning you can spend quality time with the art, unlike bigger museums in central Tokyo. The gift shop is small, but has some nice things. I'd like to take off a half star for the afterthought of a cafe and the lack of English signage. とても素敵な展示会がありますのに、是非英語の説明を増やすべきです！
This is the best place for an gallery.The pride of the West side of Tokyo & I will be there to do a Live event for some artist featured there.I hope my pictures will on display too.Looking forward for that...
