A must visit historical site in Hakodate. This is the first western style fortress built in Japan. Although most of the original structures have been destroyed, but the star-shape compound is still well preserved. You should definitely pay a small price to go up to the tower at the visitor centre to admire Goryokaku from a birds eye view. You will not regret it!
The experience I had there was amazing. The museum inside the castle provides very good history information that you can learn through many learning media. Lots of scenic where you can get a good picture. Highly recommend if you are at Hakodate.
A lovely park with a relaxing vibe that invites you to slow down and stroll. The layout allows you to encircle the park and move up and down slopes with different views of the surroundings. The flowers in spring are gorgeous and if you catch the cherry blossoms in season the place is literally carpeted in blooms both on the trees and on the grass. We saw many families having picnics in the grass and folks just napping in the warm spring sunshine. Such a relaxing vibe!
Nice botanical garden with an observatory deck. Not too far from yunokawa hot springs and decent ramen shops.
