One of the best and most memorable exhibits at Shinjuku Gyoen Park is the greenhouse, which is located near the XXX gate far from the main entrance. There is an outstanding display of thousands of plant species, including orchids, tropical plants, cactus, and indigenous Japanese species. You need to allow at least 30 minutes to tour the greenhouse, and even longer if you really want to see everything in detail. Near the exit, there is a special exhibit room, which changes its contents every month or even more often. The greenhouse is closest to the Okido Gate, which is on the eastern edge of the park, headed toward Yotsuya, instead of toward Shinjuku.

I didn't realise this was in Shinjuku Gyoen until my second visit, and wow did I miss out. A fantastic excursion that really makes the park worth a visit. Many exotic planets set out in a beautifully arranged garden that places you well outside Tokyo for your wander inside. Free entry once you're inside the park!

Beautiful place! I’m surprised at how large some of the plants are! It is nicely separated too so there isn’t a plethora of different species in your face, it is separated eg Costa Rica and Okinawa. I was also impressed at the layout of the place, apart from the end where it forks to the exit or a dead end but I suppose the entrances/exits have changed since it was built. Really impressed with the artificial rocks and waterfall too. Added to the place. My next wish would be some parrots or some tropical birds, but I understand that that would be cruel to the animals.

So worth it! There are so many native species that, as a tourist, are super I retesting and new to see. They have a wide variety of plants AND they have Lady Slipper Orchids!! If you don’t know or care what this is, go see! It’s a beautiful space with a waterfall and many large and small beautiful plants.

Amazing collection of plants. Well planned out layout to make it look like in wild nature. Recommended place to visit to get away from busy Shinjuku life.

Had a great time exploring. Lots of variety and interesting plants. Very well set up and set out. Bit of a smaller adventure as poart of a very large garden adventure.

There are many varieties of plants and the tour pleased me that you go through a small bridge where you can see the palm trees and tall plants.

Plants that can’t see anywhere here in Japan.
