This place is better than any five star hotel. There’s nothing I can say about this place that hasn’t been already said. The glowing reviews are all 100% true. Even as a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe and welcome. The owners were so so so kind and lovely, and meeting the other guests was a delight too. A portion of the revenue generated from your stay will go towards charity, which is testament to the deep kindness of the hosts. The hostel is right next to the river, and stepping outside in the morning to hear the luscious sounds of water flowing and birds chirping was honesty one of the most joyful feelings in the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you. ️

What an amazing place! We were only in Pongyi for one night but it was one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Japan. The hosts, Masaki and Nina, are so kind, thoughtful and generous - we had a lovely welcome and they looked after us like we were family. The location was great, very close to the station but you wouldn't know it from the quietness of the house and the little stream running alongside it. The room (we had the private tatami room) was a very, very good size for Japan and we felt very comfortable. Unlike some traditional houses it was also very warm. The guest house also has an amazing ethos of caring for others and a small amount from each stay goes towards an orphanage in Myanmar, which we found very touching. I would 100% recommend this place - it is a gem.
Super friendly and warm environment. There was an origami and a calligraphy lesson as well as an informal tea ceremony in the guesthouse over our stay. They gave us detailed maps of the things to do and see in Kanazawa and even gave us little gifts on our way out. Overall, it was a great experience!
Cozy room with room mates from all ober the world, everything around here was so traditional and amusing, so it is definitely the best sharehouse in Kanazawa.
Staying at Pongyi was one of the highlights of our trip in Japan. We had heard about it from other travelers because it offers a unique experience -- the owners are incredibly welcoming and go out of their way to offer you a memorable time. When we stayed, they gave us and other guests a calligraphy lesson! The house itself is beautiful (it was originally a kimono shop) and everything is very clean. Location is convenient to the train station. Would 100% recommend staying here.
Best location. Just few minute walk from the train station.Maru was very helpful and they are very friendly.the place very nice and clean. Great value.
We had a perfect stay in Pongyi. The staff is very kind, the place is super clean and really beautifull. Just 5/10 minutes walking from station and 15 minutes to the city center. But, the best was the experience we had, they will do short activities for guests at night. We could enjoy a class of japanese calligraphie. We can't be more gratefull for that stay.
so as I land in Japan I got to the pongyi guesthouse. One of the most memorable and good experiences I've had in Japan and in general of all the places I've stayed in before. As soon as I and my friend arrived, we were welcomed in the most warmest and amazing way by Nina-san and Masaki-san are the people who run the place. They explained to us about the place, and the area, and also connected us to the attractions in the area. The place itself is so beautifully authentic, and the hospitality above every level I expected,Because it was a good, warm atmosphere despite the cold outside, I slept for about 12 hours because the bed was so comfortable and the room heated to the perfect temperature adapted to Japan's cold winter days. After two nights at the place me and my friend left, and unfortunately, I forgot my hat there, and the day after they sent me a message about the lost hat from the place, and to my luck was they made sure to send it back to me and check if the hat came to me. It is not at all obvious how they handled the case and also agreed to change the address they first sent the hat to and put extra effort into because I switch the hotel. Thank you so much for an amazing time in Japan
