Really appreciate for the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing experience. Please make sure to double check the location and your reservation, and be on time. I had to wait the activity to start for about 20 minutes because other participants arrived late.

HiSui is definitely not a tourist trap: this school is frequented by real Japanese students who are willing to learn the art of Samurai, the art of Tea and the art of Traditional Clothing as well as Calligraphy. The teachers are putting their whole spirit into teaching and transmitting our traditional culture. It was very heartwarming.

Today I got to experience what it felt like to be a true samurai. I mainly learned how to properly wield a katana. The teacher was very kind and friendly. The staff was also very attentive and kind. I would love to come back here to learn of calligraphy and the tea ceremony.

I'll second the review from Ricky below. The wife and I went at the beginning of April 2016 and loved it. Make your reservations ahead of time and then head there a bit early so that you have time to find the place.

I'm only giving them 5 stars because I can't give them more. The place is decorated wonderfully. We started off with caligraphy lessons that even my 8 year old son enjoyed. Afterwards my wife did the kimono dress. The kimono setup she tried on was beautifully done and she really enjoyed it. Afterwards the tea ceremony was amazingly done by a woman who not only looks authentic but speaks Japanese so beautifully that you can't help but be in awe even of you don't know what she was saying. Lastly, the samurai katana class was a lot of fun with a lively and amazing older gentleman who was very engaging and clear in his instruction. The katana used was an authentic 150 year old sword actually carried by samurai. All around this was one of the best times we had in Tokyo and recommend it for anyone. It's definitely worth the time and price for anybody wanting an authentic traditional Japanese experience.
