International Mental Health Professionals Japan (IMHPJ) is an interdisciplinary network of individuals and organizations providing mental health care, therapy and related services to diverse people living in Japan. We strive to encourage a high standard of professional performance, prepare effective coordinated responses to emergent psychosocial needs, identify psychosocial problems facing people living in Japan, and find early relevant solutions. IMHPJ facilitates peer support and networking with related Japanese organizations while providing top-quality continuing education in Japan, a forum for discussion about professional ethics, a continuing focus on disaster preparation and other emergent psychosocial needs, and information about current local resources throughout Japan. In the event of a major disaster, IMHPJ will facilitate the provision of local care providers with backup and support from mental health professionals and non-professional volunteers from other regions. IMHPJ’s goals are to improve the quality, quantity, and accessibility of mental health services available to the international community in Japan by: - maintaining an up-to-date database of professional therapists - providing a forum for discussing and pursuing joint efforts related to important issues or events - encouraging a high standard of ethical and professional performance for mental health professionals - providing continuing education opportunities for members - facilitating peer support and networking among members and with related Japanese mental health organizations Our affiliated therapists practice throughout Japan.
