In 1928, Prince Ietatsu Tokugawa, Baron Yoshiro Sakatani and Inazo Nitobe created Japan, Australia and New Zealand Association Inc. (JANZ) to help trilateral trade and business at a time when the 3 countries did not have diplomatic relations. Presently, JANZ continues with the same mission with Yoshihito, Prince Katsura of the Imperial House of Japan as Director-general and former Japanese ambassador to Australia, Masaji Takahashi as Chairman.
