Great selection and well priced. VAT free if you use the service down the road. They will also engrave your initials on the spot, which is a nice touch. Well worth a visit, if you've got time to kill near Asakusa. Staff speak great English, however the shop was pretty crowded when I visited.

4th purchase at Kamata. This time online from overseas. Very professional swift communication, knifes sent via DHL and arrived within 48h. Quality excellent for the price as usual.

This is where I have bought my 3 Japanese knives. Love them! Good quality too. Customer service is also very good. I will try to upload photos later.

Really enjoyable experience start to finish. This is one of many knife shops in Kappabashi dori. By comparison, the selection and prices seem best here. The saleswoman was very knowledgeable, spoke fluent English, and did not try to oversell. Like many other shops, there is a several generation family history and they are proud and clearly talented craftsmen. They offer knife sharpening service and classes. The classes are so popular (usually 10 seats per class, two classes monthly) that securing a spot is near impossible...going to keep trying!
