We miss this tiny Japanese style curry diner since it was just a short walk from our apartment. Kailas has been doing business for more than 20 years which is quite long when you think many restoes and stores disappeare quickly in Shibuya. Not a place to dwell for long time because they have limited number of seats. Just enjoy their aromatic curry with rice and if you're starving you could top the curry with cheese, pork cutlets, or other toppings. The price has gone up a tad bit (50 yen up ) compared to 10 years ago but who can you blame them for their good location. It's not far from JR Shibuya and KEIO Inogashira Shibuya station. Also, a few minutes walk from Shibuya Mark City and Dogenzakaue Koban(police box.)

Wonderful little family run curry shop. About 10 seats at a counter, quite narrow, but quintessential old-Tokyo style atmosphere. Staff was very good. Meals can be had for around 1000yen and are very good. Popular with people from the area for a reason. England menus exist. May have to wait in a line for a seat, which is a good sign in general haha. Enjoy!
This is one of the best authentic Japanese-styled curries I've ever had. You may think it looks just \home-made\, yes does. But it's somehow incredibly well-balanced, and satisfying. This has already become famous among locals, so be prepared if you go there around 12-2 pm especially if you are with several people. Luckily they offer takeaways too, try it if you are around there.
Great curry for not a lot of money. They have water and 400 yen beer. Also, the normal pickle toppings that you get with Japanese-style curry are in little jars so you can take as much as you want. If you order additional toppings, like shrimp or eggs, be sure to order the number you want because if you just tell them the topping, shrimp for instance, you'll only get one. Still, definitely worth eating here.
My mother, who lived in center of Shibuya since 1967, LOVED this place. She used to come here twice a week! Choices of pork cutlet (breaded), beef, chicken, pork and vegetables, served with curry sauce over white rice. There are toppings to be added for small fee, like egg, fried shrimps, raisins, croquettes. The home-made roux is absolutely sublime, and a they would adjust how hot or mild you want your curry. Friendly staff, fast service, beer available. Tiny place is extremely popular, so avoid peak lunch time.
