Rafting in Haozugawa river with wooden boat, its relaxing and little bit thrilling. Please attention for ripples water, it get wet caution, especially for the passenger who sit on the front of boat. On the way of rafting you may see some animals like birds and stork. Hazugawa river cruise starts in Kameoka in west Kyoto and finish in arashimaya area, near togetsukyo bridge.
One of the best experiences around Kyoto. The scenery is breathtaking The gents piloting the boat are quite the entertainers, good jokers and fun guides to this historical river boat route. Limited English is spoken but it does not effect the experience whatsoever.
Beautiful scenery, would have been great when those leaves turn autumn colours or when the cherry blossoms bloom in spring. Boat crew were excellent in maneuvering the boat, also very entertaining and knowledgeable, would have been perfect if there were english translations. Highly recommended.
We had a fabulous 1hr 40min river boat ride even though it was a cold Spring day. I went with a friend and would recommend going with someone. Even though the guides don't speak much English, they're still great at interacting with you and there's a very good vibe of good friendship between the three guys who will take you down the river. They expertly navigated the Hozu River and was a calm trip with small rapids on route so we only got marginally wet. You can bring food and drink and I'd recommend wrapping up warm if a bit chilly (we went 3.30pm around 10 degrees). I'd definitely recommend as a way back down after the train.
