Booking available for braid making workshops to make own. Kind gentleman instructor showed me and within one hour, finished a colourful strap. Can visit small but amazing beautiful historic collection. Very close to Kyoto Imperial Palace and Gardens.

A small meusem upstairs this is a nice side quest on your way to the Imperial Palace grounds. Not really something worth making a huge effort to visit but the curators we're friendly (as is most everyone in Japan) and the traditional Kumihimo braiding (the same braiding in the Japanese anime \Your Name\) was neat to see! No English though so don't expect to understand too much of the history without a translator. (They ask you take no photos as well) There is a Kumihimo shop about 30 minutes away by bus. It's called It Kumihimo-ten and was a nice little shop in the middle of a shopping Street in Kyoto!
Amazing experience. I really recommend trying this wonderful traditional art.
