A wonderful cluster of preservation tea houses located by the river. Quaint , peaceful and definitely worth a visit to just stroll down this former entertainment district of times gone by. The ambience is one of serenity and calmness and one could always pop into one of the cafes here to enjoy a snack or a beverage. The wooden architectures themselves are most interesting both externally n internally and a walk through between the small alleyways is also fascinating. It’s a delightful stopover to soothe yourselves before moving on to the more boisterous areas of your sightseeing journey.

Nice but not as nice as the Geisha district. Most stores close at 5-6pm, so desert at night.
All stores were closed when we were there at 2pm on a Tuesday, but the store fronts were very nice to look at, especially with the river and bridge across from them.
Very well preserved street and historical buildings along a river bank with trees. Great to stroll along it to enjoy the tranquil setting.
Preserved gem.
