This is a good distillery to visit. It is not too busy and the guided tours are free. They also offer guests to taste 2 types of whiskies for free if you go through the tour. Although the tours are Japanese only, they let you see the whole production process including bottling and packaging. You can also buy some rare whiskies here for a decent price.
It's impressive tour, especially the video presentation in 3D effects! I didn't made reservation as this is last min planned visit. Took a taxi from Gotemba station, it cost around 2500 yen. When reach, immediately attended by the staff. Only English versions translation unit available. The staffs is helpful, try to answer all the questions. There are free tasting after the tour, you can also pay for the special products tasting include 25YO whisky. After the tour, there's free shuttle bus back to Gotemba station. Suggested place to drop by if u wanna know more about whisky distillery.
Great distillery with free tour and at the end of the tour you can taste 2 types of whiskey, one of which is a limited edition and can only be bought at the distillery. The tours are conducted in Japanese but on a non busy day, there are a few English speaking staff and they can also conduct tours in English.
Nice distillery for a visit. Can be reached from Gotemba Train Station or Kawaguchiko Trsin Station. Better to reserve ahead.
As a beer fan, I was surprised to realize this is a Whisky factory... 70 minutes of Interesting whisky distillery visit, with whisky tasting. The visit is free of charge, but if You book the paid visit, you can visit the real barrel storage, instead of a replica. On sunny days, don't miss the observatory deck at the end of the visit. At the store, the small glasses with the mount Fuji engraved at the base can be great gifts.
I came solo while in Japan and had a great time. As all the reviews showed, usually the tour is in Japanese. However, I was on the tour with nobody else and had an English speaking tour guide. She did great explaining everything. Sadly it was cloudy so I did not get to see Mt. Fuji on the observation deck, but the tour was very good and whisky was great! I recommend if you are going between southern Japan and Tokyo. It's not too far out of the way.
AMAZING tour. Just wow, we only understood bits and pieces since it was all in Japanese, but there was so much to see and smell that it didn't matter how much we understood. Everyone was lovely and more than helpful when selecting beverages or items to take back to the hotel with us! When we were ready to leave they helped us check the bus schedule and even offered to call a cab when we realized we would have to wait for an hour for the bus we wanted. We opted for a nice stroll since the weather was beautiful.
