Good for kids
The women working at this information center were very helpful to me! It was raining and I wasn't sure if a local spot was open so they called ahead and checked for me. I rented an English audio guide to the shrines which made them even more interesting! They also sold local products. I had a wonderful time! : )

The people who helped us at the information center gave us all the information we needed to plan our weekend! Detailed information about the different hiking possibilities, best Onsen addresses and restaurants around. Great staff and excellent English abilities!
The staff can communicate well using English. This is quite useful for tourists like us. The staff is also can clearly advise us based on our trip plan. Furthermore, the place allowed us to deposit our baggage there, while we tour around. The only thing is that, it is a short distance from the bus stop. There is only a small sign post leading to this place. We almost not aware of its presence.
This area is beautiful. The grounds are well kept (both by members as well as respectful public - thank you!). The view from above is also very nice. (I visited for New Year's SO crowded but not bad parking was the only challenge.)
Helpful staff, an interesting diorama of the Kirishima Mountains and Geopark, local products for sale, and lots of information about the area.
