They open at 8.30 am. But you have to come early to avoid long queue. The staffs are nice, helpful and quick serve. The location is in the left if you out from arrival gate.

Amazing service above and beyond anything I've seen! Firstly JR has a foreign language (at least English and Chinese) service desk that caters to foreigners which was wonderful. They were friendly and fast and knowledgeable. They bent over backwards to figure out how I could refund my ticket when my plans changed. Finally, and most amazingly, I left my credit card at the service center and the lady at the desk combed the station trying to find me. I went back a half hour later, and she was still walking around looking for me. Finally her colleague ran with me to my train which was leaving while calling her, and she actually made it to give me my credit card literally seconds before the train door closed. To add the the crazy experience the two of them bowed as the train left. I was pretty speechless at the level of service by the end of that, and it has made me think very highly of JR, the train system in Japan, and really Japan overall! I can't thank the desk enough for their help and for sure next time I'm in Japan I'll be taking JR everywhere! Arigatou!
Very helpful staff! I would like to thank them for the directions and information :)
I mean it's one of the top 3 ticket offices in Japan. Winning is all they do. And printing tickets too I guess
Worst experience with a ticket office in Japan. We were in Kyoto during Obon-week and wanted to go to Hiroshima and some days later from there to Tokyo. Ok first ride to Hiroshima is understandable that we couldn't reserve seats as we were late, but for the second I didn't really believed him as he said also sold out. I looked online and there were seats available. As we were also in Nara this day we went there to the ticket office and could reserve seats without a problem from Hiroshima to Tokyo, only two hours later. And I saw on the computer of the nice lady in Nara that there were a lot seats available. Honestly they have to work a lot on their services in the ticket office in Kyoto.
Terrible experience here! If you're tourist don't expect to come here to get any form of genuine help or advice. FYI I already had my tickets booked I just wanted to confirm the gate and level. First I went to the JR ticket office, once finally reaching the counter I got cut off mid sentence and pointed to a gate, even after trying to continue, the lady didn't even listen. So I went to the gate and showed my ticket to the ticket inspectors where you scan your ticket, usually they're a great help but not here. He had one look at my ticket and pointed me to go around to the other gate, which I did, then the same scenario the inspector there told me to go back where I had just came from, I tried to explain but again got shut down. At this point I decided to look for a tourist information kiosk, which luckily I did because the lady there was lovely and helped me which only took 2 mins. Funny thing is that the lady from the jr ticket office and the 2 men at the gate were all wrong. Disgusting service from jr employees at this location!
We got what we wanted but the guy that served us shouldn't be in customer service!
Wonderfully helpful staff made ticket booking a breeze.
