Hustle is their business. It is ALL BLUFF. They will keep charging you astronomical fees and promise you the moon. Spent nearly 2 million yen and all they did was writing emails that I had to send myself. They will never face the party you have a dispute with. All “legal” advice is actually not valid based on Japanese laws. They have no lawyer license either in the USA or Japan and once your need actual legal help they will drop your case next day. I deeply regret ever trusting this company. They preyed on my situation and instead of helping they led me on and just kept swindling. I do NOT recommend, especially not in labour law. My Japanese lawyer confirmed all they said had zero value so it was all for nothing.

Langley Esquire offers in-depth policy updates and strategic connections to the Japanese government. Would highly recommend their monthly policy reports!
Mr. Langley offered clear guidance (in fluent English) and extremely valuable practical advice based on his decades of experience working with business and govt in Japan. This is the guy you go to when you need the best. (In addition his YouTube channel is amazing. I got a ton of answers to things about Japan that have confused me for years: politics, legal system, criminal system, Dentsu, Ghosn. It's like all the mysteries of Japan uncovered on a single channel. Huuugely helpful and fun to watch!)
There are many avenues for which their services can be used. As it relates to individual labor issues, I would not recommend Langley & Associates. In summary, they over-promised and under-delivered. The first hour of consultation holds several useful points. After that you are paying a significant fee for a bit of coaching and some editing of letters and meeting notes you are left to draft yourself. As they are offering consulting services and not legal services there ends up being limitations on what they can do for you all while you are using your own time and energy to pursue your case. In my case I also found a lack of timely response and even a material typo in key documents. For the expense I expected much more. Ultimately, in a labor dispute you will need a lawyer to represent you, even if you use L&A. For an individual seeking English language counsel and whose case will not be covered by flashy news events, you are better off finding one of several talented English speaking lawyers who handle such legal disputes.
Langley Esquire provides clear insights and advice on how to navigate the seemingly fuzzy Japanese landscape of laws, regulations and unwritten rules.
