I have to admit, I wasn't sure how a virtual food tour would go without being there to see and taste things. But it was AMAZING. I'm so impressed with how Arigato has adapted these tours for online. The guide was engaging and funny. The tour was very informative and covered everything from food history, to geography, and even learning some Japanese terms ... but all in a very fun interactive way. I'd highly recommend this tour for anyone planning a trip to Japan. Especially to learn more about food and etiquette before you travel there. I'd also recommend the online virtual tour to anyone homeschooling kids as it was a really fun and interactive way to learn about history, food culture, and geography in Japan.

This was one of the best tours we did in Japan on our honeymoon. I'm so glad we did it at the beginning (DO IT AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR TRIP IF YOU'RE NEW TO JAPAN) as we learned so much about Japanese food etiquette (hand wipes are used before the meal not after!), different types of food and how certain restaurants work (like standing sushi bars). We never would've found or tried all those foods on our own and it gave us so many important skills that we used on our travels throughout Japan. It was well worth the price and honestly, I'd do it again. Everything was delicious. Tour guide was fun and informative. Honestly, just do this tour already.
Alex was a great host and managed to keep everyone engaged which is not an easy task with an online experience. I joined the 'Virtual Tour to discover Mt Fuji'. I climbed Mt Fuji and explored the area over 10 years ago so I was initially concerned I may not be the target audience for this experience but the presentation was well made and had plenty to keep first-time visitors to Japan/Mt Fuji engaged as well as plenty of facts, tips and new information for those who may already be familiar with the country/area. Alex did a great job and I look forward to hopefully joining him on a real-life tour at some point in the future.
I did the Virtual Green Tea experience with my sister-in-law 2 weeks ago and we had a great time. It was a fun activity that we could do together, since we live on different continents. I really enjoyed how interactive it was, with questions and quizzes throughout, and we learned how to brew a great cup of green tea without the bitterness that I often get. We also got to see some beautiful photos of where green tea is produced in Japan, which is now on my bucket list of places to visit. If you can't travel in real life right now, this was a great opportunity to take a short virtual trip with tea-making tips that I can now incorporate into my daily life.
We went to Mt Fuji on the Arigato Food Tour. Our guide was VERY informative about Japanese customs and food. No one wants to be the “Ugly American.” We still do some faux pas, but at least we know what NOT to do. The food was some of my Best Japanese Food Ever. We also stopped for lunch at a brewery and visited a Gold Award winning Sake maker! We visited a shinto shrine where a local girl interpreted the fortune paper that we would never have been able to read. Lovely people and the new Mt Fuji center is excellent.
