Onpoint Madarao is amazing! My wife and I spent and amazing few days there. The place was so cute and homie and the owners who operate it by themselves are the best. They are so nice and personable. It is close to Madarao Ski Resort and to a nice lake. The food was some the best food we have had in Japan! We will definitely be going back again this winter and summer.

My wife, our 6 year old and I stayed at Onpoint Madarao for the last 4 nights in March; also the last 4 nights of the ski season. We had a double room with an extra single bed. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there. The lodge is run by Justin and his wife Kaori. I definitely consider this a 5 star lodge based on the cleanliness and quality of the lodge itself. We slept very, very well in the clean comfortable beds. As other reviews mention and I agree that what further sets Opoint Madarao apart is the food they serve. The food is beautifully presented, excellent quality and quantity and simply delicious. Western or Japanese meals were equally excellent. Justin and Kaori are also a super lovely couple. They were extremely helpful and friendly and I am certain we will return during both the ski and non ski season. This is our 3rd time in Madarao and all three visits have been for skiing but next visit will be during one of the other seasons as there seems to be plenty to do here in all seasons. This visit we enjoyed the great skiing and also had a couple of snow shoe hikes through the forest. Mostly we just want to return to stay at Onpoint Madarao. It was a truly wonderful experience. Thank you to Justin and Kaori and of course Tito and see you all again soon!
On point was truly on point. I can’t say enough about it. The food was absolutely amazing! We received breakfast and dinner. We ordered the burgers for lunch one afternoon. Best burgers in Japan! I ordered hot chocolate and baileys as a drink it was so good and smooth. They add a personal touch to everything. With my wife and I being a gay couple they were very accepting and caring. Our daughter and Tito were best friends the whole time. He added such a special touch to our trip. I can’t give enough good reviews! My family and I will be back!
This place has everything. Great food, a central fireplace in the living room for that cozy lodge feeling, a bar, a beer vending machine, even a games room with video games and karaoke! They also have board games and things to keep the family occupied. Great service all round too. You can’t go wrong. Just book it.
Amazing place! Rooms are so nice and clean. Food is so delicious. Great atmosphere. Really convenient to go slope. Lots of activity you can choose.Not only winter season also summer. The best thing is wonderful hospitality from Justin, Kaori and Tito. Once you stay you will know. The best!
We spent two nights at Onpoint this past weekend and it was a really special weekend for our group of families. The food prepared by Kaori-san was absolutely amazing and highlights the best of Japanese home cooking. Justin's sense for interior design and the natural aesthetics somehow creates a space that both feels nostalgic for wood cabins of the past while also feeling modern and fresh. The hamburgers are also a must try! Definitely recommend to anybody looking for a quiet getaway in the mountains.
Great place to rent out for private lodging with a large group of friends over 3 nights/3 days. Good communication with Onpoint Madaro leading up to the stay, including pick up service from train station, meeting dietary needs and delivery of snowboard gear. Justin and Kaori are great hosts who provide delicious home cooked meals... especially tasty burgers! Well located with a short drive to the slopes! Also make time for some free snowshoeing in the local forest surrounding the lodge. Cozy fireplace to hang out after a long day outside. A warm thank you to Justin, Kaori and their rescue dog Tito!
If you are looking for an amazing place to stay, look no further! My family and I stayed at Onpoint Madarao over the weekend and loved everything about it. Kaori and Justin (owners and operators) haven't left out any details in creating a relaxing, fun, clean, cozy and comfortable hotel. Our 5-year-old loved playing with the games and entertainment center and we adults enjoyed relaxing. The food was outstanding, which is probably an understatement. They put as much love into the food as they have into their beautiful hotel. They gave us lots of local tips. It was the best place to come back to after a long day of skiing. The area also has a lot to offer! We can't wait to return in winter and in the green season.
