Had my first surf lesson ever with Danny! Would highly recommend Happy Surfing Okinawa! His guest house was very charming for those interested in a stay. He handled getting to the right beach, boards and other logistics making for a smooth process. I would recommend having a basic level of cardiovascular fitness if new to the sport, prior to your first lesson. Can't wait for my next lesson with Happy Surfing Okinawa!

Danny is awesome. His insight and spirit inspired me to surf again after many years of being out of the water. He runs a very safe school and his guidance helped me get back into it just like riding a bike. He had my ten-year-old daughter catching her own waves in two sessions. He never stops encouraging all to keep trying, and most of all to just have fun. He embodies the spirit of what surfing can do for the soul.

This was my first time ever surfing and Danny made it super easy to understand and gave plenty of pointers and direction to help understand the basics and get right into the water. With the class at six students, he’s able to interact and individually help each and every one of us to get us on the right track. They even take some awesome pictures you can save from their website after the evening. I will definitely be going back for more and even better, they work with a company in mainland with your own designs and specifications to make high quality handmade boards. Definitely having a board made in the near future. Thank you so much Happy Surfing Okinawa you guys really make surfing a great time and made such a good impression on my first time that it’s now more than just a hobby, it’s an addiction.

Danny is a retired surf athlete (sounds old haha) who runs a cozy hostel and takes his guests for surftrips together with his partner Kidoko (hopefully I spell it right). They constantly check forecasts and drive their guests to different beach everyday for the best waves. My trip was a bit short, they drove me to a secret beach I believe only locals know about. Kidoko was the one who took most of the pictures. Awesome!! I envy they really make a living out of this! )

Thank you Danny! Danny knows Oki surf and is a patient and thoughtful instructor. He quickly got a sense of our skill level and within the hour we were consistently dropping in. He pushed us to improve our technique and helped read the reef waves. We will be back

Had a really bad experience with surfing. Big group. Not enough time to teach beginners. As far as teaching goes, he gave some pop-up on board lesson at his home. On beach he was just giving the push to catch the wave. No instructions before or while in water. Given my own poor fitness, tiring paddle on a long soft board against the wave for 30 mins it was not a fun experience to say the least. I won't recommend beginners this surf school.

For me, Danny‘s place has been and will be the first place for surfing and hanging out in Okinawa hands down.
