男体山山頂の「二荒山神社奥宮」の西側に建つ像です。 二荒山大神は大己貴命（おおなむちのみこと・父）、田心姫命（たごりひめのみこと・母）、味耜高彦根命（あじすきたかひこねのみこと・子）の3神を言うので、ここに建っているのは大己貴命となります。
