This is a really cool onsen. Different from your usual onsen, as you don't use soap to wash, just rinse your body before entering to prevent chemicals cycling back into the ocean. It's a very natural experience. Outside, surrounded by rocks, and you can see the ocean from where you're bathing.

Absolutely beautiful location, can not recommend enough. Definitely a good place to connect with nature and meditate of just close your eyes and relax for a while. The ocean is stunning and it's an experience. Bring your own towel if you need more than a hand towel to dry off. There's no where to wash so it's recommended you go after you've had a shower in the morning or something. People with tattoos are good to go here too!!
This isn't an onsen to be clean in, but to enjoy the view and experience being naked almost outside. You can 'wash' yourself, but just tie your hair up, and don't expect to be cleaned. It's almost like if you take a dip in the ocean. There are lockers outside and a place to put your clothes inside. I recommend bringing a little towel to dry yourself off. Have a shower in your hotel afterwards to properly clean yourself!
Here is so beautiful onsen I've ever been. But if you visit hot day in summer, you couldn't be inside the water. The temperature of the water is so hot. (Over 40 celcius). The entrance fee is so reasonable 500yen. And it will be best experience because the water is come from sea. You can taste salty.
The oldest onsen in Japan, definitely a place to visit if you are into that. Be aware that is only the rotenburo(no showers)
This is one of THE BEST I sen places I have visited so far, it’s connect to the sea! And you can hear the waves and enjoy the breeze while ur inside the warm Onsen 1000/10!! Honestly please enjoy!
It is a great view on a windy when the waves are practically clashing into one another almost in front of you.
This was my first time going to an onsen and I wouldn’t have picked another place. This one in particular is perched on the edge of the ocean so you have a beautiful view. The actual onsen itself is carved out from the rocks. It was very relaxing and not as crowded as I expected. It is also only 500 per person and if you forget to bring a towel, you can buy a small one for 200 each. Staff are incredibly friendly and can speak decent English! If you’re in or planning to visit Shirahama, I highly recommend this place.
