The bears are adorable. The male heads are lazy so they don't move but catch food with their mouth. The female bears are more active. So the latter might be more worth it. They give you butter cookies to feed the bears! It's such an exhilarating thing to do!! BE warned though, it smells very strong in there. There's also other entertainment like duck racing. This place never stops with these adorable animals. The staff is also pretty nice too. Some have a funny sense of humour too like the elderly man manning the gondola. This place rocks!

This place is less a park and more like a prison for bears. The bears are stuck in concrete enclosures and have nothing to do, so they just sit there begging for pellets of food. It's inhumane and if I knew what it was like I wouldn't have gone. I visited in 2008, so thirteen years ago, but I see from the reviews that nothing has changed. I'm hardly surprised. Most zoos in Japan are like this.

Parking down the hill and took the gondola ride up to the beat park. It’s not a huge place but each major exhibits are packed with bears. Tourists can buy both dry biscuits or cut salmon as a treat for the bears. There is also a tunnel where you can get a very close encounter and feed them. Bears are pretty interactive with the treats.

Watch Hokkaido brown bear in captivity. Feeding them with apples could be fun especially for kids.

Sad bears in small enclosures, run down buildings. Not worth the price - there are many more humane and interesting bear parks in Hokkaido
