This place is next to Oyunuma Pond and amazing to sit and relax, water isn’t so hot though. But the nature around is enjoyable if you aren’t bothered by the sulfur smell. It gets dark here around 4 so better be prepared.

This is one of the nicest natural settings foot bath I have seen. Came here in low season (mid-Oct) weekday morning and had the pleasure to enjoy it solo. I can definitely imagine how busy it could be other times as everyone can will treasure the 40 degree warm water while sitting back to enjoy the waterfall and surrounding woods. Definitely worth a visit!
Definitely worth a visit after walking around some of the other trails in Jigokudani. There is a small waterfall as you walk to the footpath area and another at the footpath itself, perfect spot for photos. The water was nice and hot and there is black sand at the bottom making it easy to walk in. Remember to bring a towel to dry your feet after. They have some mats to sit on as the wooden platform was wet but can just use your towel to sit on. We went in a patch of wet weather in the afternoon but it was still quite busy (see picture), so I expect it will be packed on a sunny day. The only thing that detracted from the walk was the large and ugly man made pipe systems.
Noboribetsu Onsen is one of Hokkaido’s most famous hot spring resorts. The Oyunuma River Natural Footbath is exactly as it sounds, a footbath installed in the outflow of the hot spring riverwaters of the Oyunuma River. Kick back and feel the stress and exhaustion be washed away as you look up at the healing forest scenery. A 30 minute walk on the footpath behind the Noboribetsu Park Service Center next to Jigokudani brings you to this oasis of relaxation.
Natural hot water coming down this little creek is spectacular. It is a very short walk from the nearby parking to get there and it easy to follow the path along the creek to the designated area for the foot path.
