Note: we drove there This place was a little difficult to find, but the workers were lovely, the parking plentiful and the cats affectionate. The workers were kind enough to even turn the boat around when they saw us running up right as they were pulling away. Definitely recommend a trip to the cat island, there's a few businesses, a yummy sushi place and the temples are quaint. Beyond all else though, the view is lovely and it was neat to experience the view from inside lake Biwa for once

The bus and ferry times don't line up very well, so if you arrive at the port after 10:15 (via any bus) you'll end up waiting up to 2 hours for the ferry, in a little shed structure infested with bugs. Same disconnect on the way back. So if you don't want to wait forever between the bus ride and the ferry ride, get to the port early--around 8--and plan to leave the port just after 4. (see the pictures for ferry times). Those are also the busiest times, though. Also, there is not any helpful information in English and there are no bathrooms. The ferry isn't even good and leaving and arriving on time. The ferry drivers were very nice and polite, though. To get to the port, take a mini bus (Akakon route 1) or a regular sized bus from Omi-Hachiman Station. The large bus is 700 yen, the mini bus 200 yen, cash. The ferry takes you to Okishima, but if you're a tourist, be warned that there is nothing of interest on the island. Not even cats, despite blogs claiming that it is a cat island. We only saw two cats, and that's much less than what we've seen wandering around other parts of Japan.

沖島へ行くために2019年9月訪問。船のチケットは船に乗ってから券売機で買いますが、お札は千円札しか対応していませんでした、要注意。片道大人500円、小中学生200円。来島者用駐車場利用した場合、300円を船の募金箱へ。ここにはトイレありません、来島者用駐車場の近くにコンビニありました。人懐っこい猫がいて癒やされます。
前往沖島的渡船乘船處，非常迷你的碼頭，很寧靜，有可愛、親人的貓。沒有看到維護人員，所以在此候船的人，務必把自己的垃圾帶走喔！
ここの港の桟橋から、沖島へ行くための定期船が出ています。 片道の料金は500円です。 舟の中に券売機があります。 往復か片道のチケットが購入出来ますが、往復チケットは安くなるわけではなく片道用のチケットが2枚出てくるだけです。 片道購入の方がチケット紛失の心配もなくいいかもしれません。 朝夕は島内の小学生が乗ってるので賑やかです。 堀切港には来島者用駐車場(港から少し離れてます、港にある駐車場は島の在住者用です)があるので、車での来島も便利です。
