Nice and quiet place with scenic views of the water. They have bicycle rentals where you can bike along the water for a reasonable fee. If you have time traveling from hakodate to sapporo its a nice stop or break. Otherwise i prefer or recommend you to check out lake shikotsu. The annoying part of biking along the water are the little green bugs or horse flies that can bite.
