Great place for low cost fish and meat purchases. Open every day. Although you need to be early while the fish stands close before noon.

This whole sales market is not for general tourists. It's a busy market with lots of vehicles, large & small, running around quickly. If you do come here, take the overpass walkway from the front gate, & walk in thru the upper level where there is a brief description of this market in 4 languages. Then follow the sign written in Japanese, 見學者..., & see the market in operation from the top floor walkway. Don't come down to the ground level while you are inside of the market, except you are on the east wing where there are some restaurants/mom&pop shops located. If you walk on the ground floor, that will endanger yourself & the people who work here since you will be in the way of the small rushing cargo vehicles. The things to see would be the auction processes in the early morning, other than that what you will see will be some big warehouse with lots of vegetables/sea foods boxes on the floors with lots of small cargo vehicles running.

旧築地市場程には有名ではありませんが青果物の野菜の取扱量は日本一です。都内に入る入荷量の約6割が大田市場を経由しています。現在はコロナの影響で見学中止ですが小学校の社会科見学なども普段は行われています。一度は見学してみたら？敷地内には水産持つあり年末は賑わっています。
