In Japan, Place To Grow works to connect, inspire and bring the community together. The volunteers facilitate and coordinate monthly educational activities for children in areas recovering from a natural disaster. These Place To Grow Clubs are interactive workshops that foster self-esteem building experiences for children and lead up to an annual inter-generational community event. Survivors and outside volunteers work together to bring an explosion of positive energy to the community. This connection creates hope, resilience and opportunity, which is crucial to long term recovery. Place to Grow is a space for creativity, imagination, and inspiration to flourish in post-disaster communities. It currently serves the residents of Miyagi and Fukushima in Japan. www.placetogrow-ngo.org All programs are funded through our volunteer network via fundraising events, our membership program, and organisational sponsors. Programs list: 2011- Tohoku distribution Project 2012- Community Learning Center 2013- Green Farmers Project (agriculture business) 2014- Green farmers project –vegetable factory construction Bring Santa to Tohoku -community rebuilding project 2015- Place to Grow: • Children’s agriculture activity center • International Friendship Festival Santa's Soul Train -community building (a series of empowering and confidence building workshops in Tohoku and Dhading, Nepal) 2016 - RE branded and registered organization as NPO Place To Grow • Children’s monthly club activities (cultural exchange, and english learning workshops) Santa's Soul Train -community building (a series of empowering and confidence building workshops in Tohoku. 2017 - • Children’s monthly club activities (cultural exchange, and english learning workshops) • Summer Friendship Festival in Shizugawa Santa's Soul Train -community building (a series of empowering and confidence building workshops in Tohoku.
