Culture Kids is a superb international preschool. My 3 year old has been attending Culture Kids for about 6 months. He first joined their summer school and had a great time. Then we decided to enroll him in their regular school. He really loves it there and I think it's been fantastic for his language and social development. He is now much more expressive verbally and has grown in confidence. It's a very nurturing and supportive environment with an emphasis on learning through art, play, inquiry and exploring. The lessons are very creative and they often put on themed days, such as a pyjama/teddy day, a native indian day and special lunches like pizza-making or farm-to-table. The kids (especially older ones) do get challenged academically but the teachers try to do it in fun ways! Like doing a group reading of a Christmas story out loud in front of the parents at the school winter show. At the winter show one of the younger kids was feeling emotional/needy and couldn't perform one of the song/dance pieces - it was handled so well by the teachers and no extra pressure was put on the kid to keep trying. He just sat with his parent for a while and when he felt better he joined in the show again. It was great to see the teachers being so understanding and caring. I'm really happy that my son goes to Culture Kids.
Amazing facilities, lovely teachers, positive and joyful atmosphere.Fun and creative activities everyday which makes my kids skip to go to school. Kids are enjoying, playing to the fullest at school, and also, seams to be learning and gaining their fundamental interest to the academic field too. My older son is very proud of himself to be able to read, and write letters to his teacher who always reads it correctly(even his spelling is not accurate). Culture kids is the best international preschool/kindergarten in Tokyo as long as I know.
There are many int'l preschools/kindergartens in Setagaya BUT this one is truly AMAZING with the best balance of everything that a parent could wish for - great teachers who really knows how to engage with kids in a fun way, an inquiry based education style that respects individuality and difference nurturing critical and logical thinking skills, which has boosted my son's overall communication skills. A very welcoming, colorful and creative atmosphere with a spacious indoor facilities for kids such as a tree house, castle, indoor gym, climbing wall, etc. , Fun filled, well thought out events throughout the year and offers various after school programs. My son looks forward to going to school everyday!
