Little local temple in the midst of ever trendy neighborhood of Nikotama. The temple include a hidden underground tunnel which is a must visit, however the entrance is until around 4pm only.

From the outside it looks just like any other temple in Japan. But once u get into the Buddha chamber... It looks like a scene striaght out of Indiana's movie. And weird thing is, I am constantly thinking back about my visit there even after a while now
This temple may not be great for Instagram, but it's definitely a memorable experience. The underground passage really allows you to get away from the crowds and actually have an authentic moment. I enjoyed this much more than all the famous photogenic temples, and am glad I took the time to explore this unique little gem.
An amazing Temple and well worth the visit. The small staircase leading underneath the Temple is not labeled in English but I assure you it's ok to go down. Once you go down, you walk through short passages in complete darkness leading to a small dimly lit, incense infused underground Temple lined with Buddha statues.
Incorrect location! Update: Looks like it's been moved/fixed. This is a great unique experience, one of the favorite things I did on my trip to Japan.
