Small supermarket selling affordable fruits etc. Drinks and snacks are cheaper than convenience store. If you are looking for alcohol, they have quite a wide range. Shopkeepers cannot really converse in Japanese but prices are all written so there should not be a problem.

Nice local grocery with friendly staff. The register people don't mind chatting with strange foreigners. Went here to buy a raincoat for the 2019 Fuji Marathon and the kind old women helped me out like I was buying a car - explaining the different options and suggesting how I might want to protect myself from the rain while running. Went back after the marathon to desperately buy some drinks with sugar, and they were again very nice and even concerned about me.
5 mins from our hotel beside Lake Kawaguchiko. Has everything you basically needs. We bought most of our fruits, fresh sushi, instant noodles, snacks, liquor, beers, juices & drinks. Doesn't speak much English thou, but very friendly.
