A great jump start to climbing the sacred mountain, Takaosan. There are some sculptures in front of the station of Japanese giant flying squirrels (鼯鼠 musasabi) which inhabit the area.The funicular cable car opened in 1927 and is the steepest railroad in Japan. The transportation starts at 201m elevation and climbs to 472m at the uphill terminus.
