This is the very concept behind artist Kunihiko Yazawa’s art practice. With Yazawa’s philosophy of ‘Art at the center of the Earth’ at the heart of ELAB, we aim to create through our art practice a thriving society where all children can enjoy “the happiness of creating the future”, “the capacity to truly appreciate beauty,” and “making connections that transcend language." Our work: We deliver programs to empower youth under the age of 25 to create the future – with a particular focus on high school students. 1. We seek to create social impact in 3 areas: ・Self: Nurturing the next generation to create their own futures in a complex and uncertain world ・Society: Nurturing leaders to solve urgent social issues ・Global: Creating spaces for dialogue and connection which transcend race, gender, nationality, religion, language 2. We create platforms to support art-based learning and creative ways of life ・ Engaging in research and publishing of our work, and training program delivery professionals ・ Designing curricula, capacity building for knowledge transfer and program scale out in schools ・ Event, exhibition planning and facility management ・ Using art to build communities bridging generations and cultures
